NAIL POLISH WE LOVE: AUTO PAINT
(And not just because of its hip packaging)
Designed by Southern California native, Carrie
Wilksen,
Auto Paint Cosmetics' nail polish goes on
exceptionally  smooth with a rich color. Added
bonus? The polish is free of DBP, toluene and
formaldehyde, known to cause cancer and
reproduction toxicity. It's the perfect balance of
health and beauty. Our favorite shade is '65
Mustang, which is the perfect bright pink for the
season.

Multi-purpose olive oil
I blame my reliance on olive oil on my Italian roots. I use it for cooking, salad
dressings and occassionally on my hair. Then, the other day, when my skin was
very dry, I massaged some olive oil into my skin and woke up to a rosy,
moisture-rich complexion. All you need is around a half teaspoon of extra virgin
olive oil (if I'm putting something on my face, it has to be high quality). Extra virgin
olive oil is full of antioxidants and good fats, and it will save you much money on
moisturizers.

Other ideas for olive oil?
* Use olive oil in place of body lotion right after a shower. It makes your skin extra
silky and glowing. Allow a couple minutes of "drying time and have an old towel to
wipe excess oil off so you don't get it all over your clothes.
* In the shower, mix a few drops of olive oil into wet hair. Cover it with a shower cap
for a few minutes and then rinse. Do not use too much or your hair will become oily.
Olive oil will give you smooth, frizz-free hair.
*Make a fragrant sugar body scrub by mixing sugar with olive oil and a couple drops
of your favorite essential oil (my personal pick is grapefruit).
*Olive oil also helps heal skin that is sun-damaged and helps to heal wounds
(because of its naturally occuring vitamin E).

Dazzle With Shimmer
Add a little shimmer to your look this season. Here are a few
ideas to get you started. Remember, a little shimmer is
pretty, a lot is tacky.

Beautify your chest and shoulders. Dust a little loose gold
or pink shimmer onto your chest and highlight your
shoulders for a party.

Brighten your eyes. Brush a pretty, pastel shimmer powder
on your lash line and blend it with a finger up to your lid.
Pastel shimmer colors are perfect because they are not too
over-powering and will make your eyes look bigger and "pop
out."

Hide your imperfections. Apply a drop of luminizer to your
foundation or tinted moisturizer for a healthy, radiant-looking
glow. Or, look for a luminizing make-up base and apply it
under your foundation.

A DRUGSTORE SPOT
TREATMENT THAT ACTUALLY
WORKS
After an especially stressful week
recently, my poor face showed it.
Stress-induced acne is stubborn
and nothing seemed to be
getting rid of the bumps. As I
paced through the drugstore
skincare aisle, I stumbled upon
Clean and Clear's Maximum
Strength Persa-Gel 10
, which is
a strong 10% benzoyl peroxide
formula. After just a couple nights
of using the cream, the bumps
were significantly reduced.
Unfortunately, I did experience
extra dryness, but it was worth it.
Besides, a little olive oil and my
skin is radiant and smooth again.
Visit your local pharmacy for this
doctor-recommended favorite or
order online at
drugstore.com.
Make
RED
LIPS
work for you
This season, beauty is all grown-up. Bright lips paired with neutral
eyeshadow and well-groomed eyebrows with little other make-up is
all you need this season. Skin should look clean, not matte. Allow
natural shine to show through so that you don't look like a "dead
red" -- or washed out. Also, be sure to cover any blemishes
because red lipstick will bring them out. For special evenings, pair a
glossy red with black eyeliner like Sophia Loren.
