Summer Skincare Concerns
STOP MELTING MAKE-UP
Summer is not the time to flaunt matte skin and it just ends up looking
cakey and fake. Instead, embrace your skin's natural sheen. Still, it's no
fun if the humidity sends your face from radiant shine to sweaty mess.
In the warm weather, use lighter make-up. If you have to wear
foundation and/or concealer, make sure that it is oil-free. Self-tanner
can make a wonderful alternative to foundation in the summer months
by making your face smooth and can even out skin tone. Before putting
on your make-up, try using one of Clinique's pore minimizing lotions,
which work wonders on large pores. If the heat causes your face to be
prone to breakouts, there is make-up especially designed to cover and
treat blemishes. See the other page for one from Neutrogena. For
eyes, choose long-wearing and waterproof products and use powders
instead of cream eyeshadows. Throw on some lip gloss with SPF 15
or higher and you'll be good to go.
IT DOESN'T JUST MELT ON YOUR FACE
Don't leave your beauty products in the car because it can ruin them.
Instead, bring them into your air-conditioned office or pop them in your
fridge. If your make-up changes consistency or smell, discard it.
Beautiful, radiant skin is just a few steps away.

Winter Skincare Concerns
GOT MOISTURE?
Winter weather can wreck havoc with your skin if you live in an area with a low
level of humidity. Thus, it is imperative to slather on moisturizer, most likely a
richer one than you use in the summertime. Try Neutrogena Healthy Skin
VisiblyEven, a daily moisturizer with SPF15 that contains Essential Soy to help
brighten your skin, reduce blotchiness and minimize the appearance of dark
spots for more radiant, evenly toned skin.
PALE SKIN
During the winter your skin will have less color that in the warmer months. If you
wear foundation or concealer, make sure you own a lighter shade that matches
your cooler look. To make your skin a slightly darker hue, use a light self-tanning
lotion, which will give your face a radiant glow (just make sure it isn't too dark and
orangey, which will look fake). You can also swipe on some blush on the apples
of your cheeks. We love L'Oreal True Match shades, which are especially
designed to match your skin tone.
When You're at the In-Between Stages
So we've covered the major contrasting seasons, but what about the periods in
between where your face cannot make up its mind whether it's too dry or too oily?
It's a good idea to slowly start using your heavier winter skin lotions so you don't
"shock" your face with the rich formula. For transitioning into the warmer months,
only apply your heavier moisturizer on dry patches, working your way into the
lighter lotions. Make sure you have a good facial masque ready to heal any
transitional season breakouts.

Traveling? Skincare a la Road
Between the stress of traveling and hanging out in bacteria-ridden airports before getting onto low humidity airplanes, it's no wonder our skin does not look its best when we're on the go. Chanel Purifying Deep Cleansing Foam- Rinse Off ($36) actually forms a barrier on your face that shields against outdoor and indoor pollutants, while clearing away excess sebum (pore-clogging oil) and tightening pores. Don't forget to also pack face wipes or oil-blotting papers and concealer (you never know what might pop up) in your carry-on.
