TESTED. The Editor of Hip Chick Zine's Adventures in Beautyland (or something like that), second installment.
Designer beauty products. You may love them or hate them, but there's no denying that some are worth the money and many are simply a rip-off. One company that always pleasantly surprises me is Chanel, especially their skincare. The Precision skincare line can instantly clear, moisturize and beautify your skin. The first Chanel beauty product I splurged on was Precision Systeme Purete Mousse Nettoyante Desincrustante a L'eau (Purifying Deep-Cleansing Foam Rinse-Off). Between the sweat of soccer practices and games, living in an off-campus house with funky water, the change in seasons and college/life stress, my skin had seen better days. Frustrated with drugstore brands that claimed to clear up my skin and make it radiant, I logged onto sephora.com and bought the facewash. The rinse-off has gentle micro-beads that exfoliate, an extract of Nebeday, a natural plant ingredienc that combats outdoor and indoor pollutants and Systeme Purete Complex, an exclusive combination of astringent and oil-controlling extracts, that effectively balances blemish-prone skin. I could see results and quite frankly, I became hooked.
I soon discovered their Hydramax lotion and Anti-Fatique mask at a Chanel beauty counter in Dublin, Ireland. After going over several options with the friendly salesperson, I settled for the two products shown above. If you're like me and get dry skin around your jaw that can get easily irritated, this moisturizer is an answered prayer. Spending several months in Ireland, I quickly learned that drinking too much can not only leave you with a hangover, but also dulls your skin. After a shower, massage on some of the Anti-Fatique mask and you will see an instant difference.
It's true, I may be a starving college student, but I've learned that money spent on a couple ingenious products that work will save you money overall because you won't have to buy tons of drugstore ones to get the same effect. By investing in three new Chanel products, I was able to get rid of three half-empty face washes and a couple moisturizers that I used to have to layer. I enjoy trying new products, especially to report on in Hip Chick Zine, but enough is enough. If you're like me, you don't have time to go wading through products that simply do not work.
Sometimes spending a little extra is worth it. Well, as far as facial scrubs and fresh-squeezed juices go anyway.
