| .:globe-trotting special:. what to bring IN YOUR CARRY-ON |
|||||||||||
| So you're going on a trip and perhaps you're trying to remember what you need to pack in your carry-on. Don't worry because with this list, you'll have everything you will need. 1.) Passport, Picture ID and Tickets- Keep these on you or separate them in your bag. Even better? Bring COPIES of all of these and keep them in a different place and also give one copy to your parents or partner in case of emergency. 2.) Cash- It would be awful if you needed an item and had no cash because some places do not take traveler's checks. Make sure that you separate your money; put some in your bag, in a small pocket and/or money belt. 3.) Medications- If your flight is delayed, you don't want to be without your necessary medications. So, pack any prescriptions with you because you don't want to miss your Pill or allergy meds. 4.) Gum, Water, Tylenol and Snacks- If your ears pop, you'll know what I mean about bringing gum. Chewing it can work miracles. As for water, it is very common to get dehydrated from airplanes and you don't want an annoying headache (just in case, bring Tylenol). Snacks are helpful and can save you money because you won't have to spend $5 on a cookie at the airport. Handy snacks include pretzels, a piece of fruit, trail mix, a chocolate chip cookie or an energy bar. 5.) An Extra Pair of Clothes- If your luggage is lost, you don't want to be stuck without any clothes. Wear a comfortable pair of shoes in case you have to run across the airport or don't get your bags. At least pack an extra pair of socks and underwear, although an extra shirt and pair of pants couldn't hurt either. It helps to dress in layers too. 6.) Phone Numbers and a Phone Card- If your flight gets delayed or if you encounter any other problems, you're going to want the phone numbers of friends, family or your destination to let them know. An international phone card is helpful or at least bring enough change to make a call. 7.) Waterless Antibacterial Hand Wash and Facial Wipes- When you travel, you encounter many questionable surfaces and it will make you feel better knowing you have something to clean your hands with. The stress of travel alone can tax your health. Facial wipes will make you feel clean and less grimy while traveling. You can also bring a few tissues in a ziplock bag in case you need to blow your nose as well. 8.) Camera and Valuables- If possible, don't bring anything really valuable, but if you must, wear it (jewelry) or keep it at the bottom of your carry-on. Keep a camera in your bag and you'll always be ready to take a picture. |

| FYI Backpacks make good carry-on bags because they keep your hands free. Also, pack your camera in your carry-on. You don't want to be camera-less if your bag gets lost. Disposable cameras are good choices for carry-ons. |

| Don't forget to always hold onto your bags. If you're in a crowded area, wear your backpack in front of you. Also, put some bright colored tape on your suitcase so you can find it. Even better, flaunt that hot pink suitcase that has been collecting dust in your closet. There are too many black suitcases and you will never have to worry about not being able to find it (plus, a potential thief would be less hesitant to snatch your hot pink, er, luggage!). | |||||||||||
